Four more countries enter the third World Cup in 1938. 15 teams qualifying for the Final Stage in France. For the first time, Brazil are one of the favourites.

Brazil's great star is Leônidas da Silva.

Leônidas is the leading scorer in the 1938 World Cup with 7 goals in 5 matches. He scores four times in an extraordinary 6-5 win over Poland in the first round.

In the second round, he scores Brazil's goal in their 1-1 draw with Czechoslovakia. In the replay he scored the winning goal.
