At the second meeting of the FA on July 20, 1872 the FA Cup was born. Another decision was also taken at this meeting - one that was perhaps even more important for the future of the game.

The members wanted football to become more popular in Scotland. So they decided to send a team representing England
-to play against a team representing Scotland. This first international was played in Glasgow in November 1872 and ended 0-0.

A year later the Scottish FA and the Scottish Cup were born
