England v Argentina
England have two great
rivals in world football: Germany & Argentina. A
series of great matches with Germany goes back
to 1966. The Germans reversed
England's triumph in 1970 and 1990.
The England/Argentina rivalry also goes back to 1966.
England won that game but lost the infamous
'Hand of God' quarter
final in 1986.
But perhaps the best game was the second round match in
France in 1998. Four great goals, David Beckham's
sending off and penalties - it had everything, except,
of course, the right result for England supporters!
